Dr. Richard Tarnas
Our astrological clients, who are known for their astuteness, have expressed their admiration for the astrology book ‘Cosmos and Psyche: Intimations of a New World View’ by Dr. Richard Tarnas.
Dr. Tarnas is also acclaimed for his book ‘The Passion of the Western Mind: Understanding the Ideas That Have Shaped Our World View,’ a bestseller and widely-used text in colleges. This work garnered praise from notable figures such as Joseph Campbell, Huston Smith, and others.
As a professor of philosophy and psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies, Dr. Tarnas is esteemed for his contributions to the field. His book ‘Cosmos and Psyche,’ published in 2006, received the Book of the Year Prize from the Scientific and Medical Network in the UK. The central premise of ‘Cosmos and Psyche’ posits a meaningful correlation between major events in Western cultural history and the planetary positions.
From the CBC National Radio Tapestry Program (Canada):
“Every now and then a book about astrology lands on Tapestry’s doorstep. As soon as one comes in, it goes out. Right into the give-away pile. Astrology might be good for a laugh but it’s not something you’re going to hear about on CBC Radio! So, here’s the problem. One day, a book lands on our doorstep. It’s about astrology, but it’s written by a highly respected scholar — whose last book was praised by the likes of Joseph Campbell and Huston Smith. His name is Richard Tarnas and the book is called Cosmos and Psyche. There’s only one option — interview him! You’ll hear the results on this week’s Tapestry.”

Dr. Jordan Peterson
Jordan Peterson, while not fully endorsing astrology, recognizes its significance as a semantic system of knowledge that predates modern science and philosophy. Many non-astrologer psychologists view astrology as a potent symbolic language that facilitates discussions about and comprehension of inner processes devoid of blame or guilt. They regard the astrology chart as an impartial and objective narrative of an individual’s life story. Though Dr. Peterson is a controversial figure, he presents intriguing ideas on astrology and psychologist Carl Jung. [While I do not support all of his ideas and prefer to avoid politics here, the video is still worth watching – Dr. Randy.]
